 about

Proudly sponsored by the School of Graduate Studies.

Our mission is to bring art back into the graduate student's perspective, and to give students the opportunity to reconnect with their artistic side.

Graduate school has traditionally been a place of academic and professional growth. As graduate students fully immerse themselves into their research, their world gradually narrows down to the scope of their research environment. Students may become disconnected with artistic hobbies and talents that were once practised on a regular basis as they progress through their graduate student life.

Our gallery is the prodigy of the Amateur Art Exhibition (established in 2014 by Irena Radisevic).

We encourage graduate students to pursue their artistic talents alongside their graduate careers. We aim to do this through:

(1)  Organizing a space and atmosphere to facilitate a graduate student art gallery at McMaster University that is open to graduate students, faculty, staff and the general public.

(2)   We invite graduate and faculty artists to share their experiences about their artwork and how it has impacted their lives and their research.
